Irit, who leads the 'Advanced Practices' programme, delves into its key fields of study, providing detailed insights into how the PhD explores the intersections between core ideas in contemporary culture and the ways they entangle with practices.  is a theorist, curator and organiser who writes at the intersections of the critical, the political and contemporary arts practices. Irit is Professor of Visual Culture at Goldsmiths, a department she founded in 2002. Her work across a series of new 'think tank' PhD programmes at Goldsmiths is focusing on the possibility of exchanging knowledges via professional practices, self-generated forums, academic institutions and individual enthusiasms. Publications include “Museum Culture” (1997), “Terra-Infirma – Geography’s Visual Culture” (2001), "Unbounded - Limits Possibilities" (2008) and forthcoming "Looking Away - Participating Singularities, Ontological Communities" (2010). Curatorial work includes "De-Regulation with the work of Kutlug Ataman" (2005-8) ACADEMY (2006) and "Summit - Non-Aligned Initiatives in education Culture" (2007).

BIOGRAPHY
Weitian Liu is a writer and researcher from Suzhou, China, and Asymmetry PhD Scholar in 'Advanced Practices' at Goldsmiths, University of London. He received his BA in English from Shanghai International Studies University, followed by an MLitt in Art History and an MPhil in History of Photography from the University of St Andrews. Weitian co-founded 

, an independent online platform for critical discussions on contemporary art in mainland China. He has previously worked on the curatorial team of 

 (2021), an exhibition at Glasgow Women’s Library, and is now an active organiser and member of the initiative 

, engaging and empowering the Sinophone art community in the UK and beyond.
