Li Jia

Li Jia is an independent curator and researcher based in Beijing. Her work examines socially engaged art across Asia, artistic activism and contemporary Chinese art history. Jia’s residency research compares art–community relations in China and the UK, focusing on ESEA diasporic, gender and ecological perspectives. She has curated more than 60 programmes and exhibitions, received the Hyundai Blue Prize (Creativity, 2017) and an Asian Cultural Council Individual Grant (2021), and publishes on socially engaged art in Yishu and Artforum China. She studied Art History at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and previously coordinated public programmes for UCCA, Beijing.

Li Jia was the 2024 Asymmetry Curator-in-Residence.
